readings from the gift

“The eye sees what it has been given to see by concrete circumstances, and the imagination reproduces what, by some related gift, it is able to make live.” - Flannery O' Connor

Over the weekend, I embarked on on heady task of reading " The gift, creativity and the artist in the modern world" by Lewis Hyde. The book, despite being quite lengthy and occasionally convoluted, had several small moments that made one truly appreciate the sharing of art and culture in new ways. It's an interesting read if you can sit through the duller parts and get to the little gems of insight.
