In the opening monologue of Side Street (which I happened to watch yesterday), the gruff voiced detective talks about how there's an average murder of one New Yorker per day in this city, and the cases all end up in his office. The New York Times has gotten far more advanced in their calculations of murder rates. In fact, they now have an interactive map. While it's always fun to play around with interactive maps, this one is pretty depressing.

Bad link, found the right one:

Very neat! And morbid.
