In Living Cover

Augmented Reality. from Moving Brands on Vimeo.

While there's something comforting about the permanence of books, written words on a paper that stick and remain unchanged, one almost expects more from reading material in an age of immediacy.

Moving Brands recently developed an augmented reality cover page as part of their living identity blog. I really like this idea for two reasons. I like that a living cover can be informative, but it's not disruptive to the reading experience. With it, a book remains a book. It's digital immediacy without the feel of eReaders. There's a real opportunity for fluidity. AR covers are also an interesting avenue for authors to communicate to readers while their content is still right in hand. The possibilities are very fun indeed.
