My daughter, who knows full well how neurotic mommy is :o) said "NO WAY!". But I found myself being somewhat annoyed with the persistent grumpiness of Coraline's 'real mom', who couldn't even afford to bust out a smile at the end after giving her the gloves. I mean, come on. It was the only thing that bothered me about the whole movie which was in many ways stunning, as you write, and full of colorful, tolerant characters.
